Junior-aged
and high school football players from Windsor and Essex
County who dream of Super Bowl XL glory will have an opportunity
Sunday to
start making their dreams come true...Brian Findlay, NFL Canada
spokesman for Super Bowl XL,
said Friday that a limit of 75 players has been set for the
tryouts.
He said players under the age of 20 as of Dec. 31, 2005, who
are asked to supply their own full equipment,
will be evaluated for all positions by a group of selected
local and national coaches. After the local tryouts,
those making the cut will be asked to compete at an Ontario
provincial tryout camp to be held later in Guelph.
The national selection camp will be held in Montreal."We
get more and more players trying out each year," said
Findlay,
who added that typically, about eight players may move on
to the next level from the tryouts.
"Windsor is a logical choice as an official Super Bowl
host and they have especially strong football programs."
...Findlay
said that Canadian teams have been strong in the past, winning
the gold medal in Jacksonville last year. Canada finished
with silver behind the U.S. the three previous years.
