High
praise is being given by NFL Canada to Windsor Mayor
Eddie Francis for spearheading efforts that have resulted
in the city hosting two prominent Super Bowl events.
"Mayor
Francis attended last year's Super Bowl in Jacksonville
and he impressed upon NFL officials how Windsor was
prepared to come to the table as a Super Bowl partner
in Detroit," says Brian Findlay of NFL Canada.
"He made a great impression with the NFL hierarchy
and I think his work is the single biggest reason why
Windsor is hosting the International Media Reception
and the NFL International Party."
The International Media Reception, a private party,
will be held February 2 at the Art Gallery of Windsor.
It will be attended by
300 media personnel. "The NFL is broadcast in a
wide variety of languages in 256 countries on all continents,"
Findlay claims.
"There
will be media representatives in Windsor from all corners
of the world not only that night, but throughout Super
Bowl week."
..."The
NFL is spending significant money to decorate the Windsor
Armouries and it will be a shining example of a potential
use for that facility," Findlay offers. "There
will be 700 guests in attendance, including NFL players
and dignitaries. "It is essentially a parallel
event to the media reception," Findlay continues.
"Both events are going to be wonderful opportunities
for the City of Windsor to showcase itself."
